A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, to respond to the processes filed in the suit challenging the defection of his predecessor, Yakubu Dogara.
Justice Okon Abang on Thursday gave the speaker up till March 9 to file and serve the other parties with the processes to enable the court to determine the issues before it.
Dogara had on July 24, 2020 defected from the PDP to the ruling APC.
A member of the PDP, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam, approached the court seeking an order to compel the leadership of the House to declare Dogara’s seat vacant.
Those joined in the suit as defendants are Gbajabiamila, Attorney General of the Federation, INEC and the APC.
APC has debunked claims by PDP that Dogara was its member.
