Advocacy Groups train youth Volunteers for 2023 elections

An advocacy group, Diaspora Medics for Good Governance- DM4GG, in collaboration with Peter Obi Support Network – POSN have trained hundreds of grassroots volunteers on election monitoring and voter mobilization, ahead of the 2023 General Election.

According to a statement released by the groups in Awka Anambra state on Monday, hundreds of grassroots volunteers youths were trained in Asaba, Delta State, at the weekend.

The theme of training was “Developing Grassroots Structures for Effective People Oriented Democracy.

The volunteers youths were drawn from across 11 eleven states of Southeast and South-South geo-political zones.

The Delta State Chairman of LP Tony Ezeagwu, emphasized on the need for volunteers and supporters of the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, to consciously project the Labour Party’s logo at their various areas .

He said the logo awareness was necessary because only the party’s logo would appear on the ballot paper on the election day.

The POSN Global Coordinator, Augusta Nneka, assured that they will deploy thousands of her members across the 774 local governments in Nigeria and wards as well as polling units, during the election next year.

The coordinator of the DM4GG, Dr. Chukwudi Muojieje, in his remark stated that the group was committed to ensuring that good governance was enthroned in Nigeria at all levels of government.

He also affirmed their unalloyed support for the candidacy of Peter Obi and Yusuf Ahmed Baba-Datti as the next President and Vice President of Nigeria.

“To achieve this uncommon feat, there is consensus that Nigerians must know better to enable them to act differently, particularly in selecting those that will govern the country from 2023. Diaspora Medics for Good Governance has over 400 members who are medical professionals of Nigerian descent living in the US, UK, Australia, Saudi Arabia, among others” he said .

According to him,in the past,DM4GG had partnered with other organizations to deliver advocacy projects, targeted at communities .

“The DM4GG and POSN sponsored conference was targeted at addressing rising concerns over voter apathy, wrong voting that will lead to invalidation of casted ballots, among others” he said

According to him, the volunteers will go back to their various states of residence and educate those in theirs areas on the need to vote wisely during the 3023 general election .
