Defending men’s champion Novak Djokovic will play British wildcard James Ward in the first round of the Wimbledon championships tomorrow.
Andy Murray will also take on a British player, coming up against Liam Broady in his opener.
For Djokovic in particular it is a tricky draw, given that Ward made it to the third round last year and has picked up some fine scalps in Davis Cup action – not least top 20 player John Isner during Britain’s victory over USA in the first round last year.
The 29-year-old Serb, the top seed, could face a semi-final with third seed Roger Federer, the seven-times champion he beat in the last two finals at the All England Club.
