Display authentic voters’ register, Secondus tells INEC

The PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to display fake voters’ registers at the various polling units but the authentic ones to be used during the 2019 general elections.

Secondus in a statement on Monday by his Media Aide, Mr. Ike Abonyi, alleged that one of the rigging strategies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and some “compromised” staff of INEC was to doctor voters’ list ahead of the 2019 general elections.

He urged voters who noticed issues with their particulars during the display of voters’ register to cry out and go to the electoral centres to complain for rectification.

“We charged INEC to ensure that the registers are not only displayed at the polling booths but that the correct ones to be used for the election are the ones on display.

“Part of the rigging strategy of the APC working in agreement with some INEC staff is to doctor voters’ lists in the opponent’s strong holds to reduce their electoral advantage.

“By cross checking and re-cross checking, the voters wittingly would have begun the battle to frustrate rigging of the election.

“Please, note that if you have a PVC and your name is not on the register, you are as good as a person who has gone into a contest but did not register for and is expecting a positive result.

“If your team is going into a match you are sure you are better than your opponent and you are not sure of the neutrality of the referee, you need to play well, win fair and square and block any room for manipulation,” Secondus said.

“The unanimity by the majority of Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari and his ruling APC should be chased out of our political lives would have no meaning if we are not ready with the necessary weapon – the PVC – to do that,” Secondus added.
