The Borno State Executive Council has approved displaced persons from Bama town to go back as 11,000 homes have been rebuilt for them.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Jidda Shuwa, said during a press conference in Maiduguri yesterday that arrangements were being made to guarantee seamless return and hitch-free resettlement of the IDPs.
“The Council, at its meeting held on Thursday, 15th March, 2018, after careful assessment of the overall security situation in Bama town and its environs as well as the massive reconstruction efforts of the state government, we resolved that the time is now ripe for the IDPs to go back to their homes,” he said.
He said adequate security would be provided for them and that essential services and facilities such as water supply and clinics had been arranged around the rebuilt settlement.
“Also, security presence has been established in Bama. The Police, Prison Service, NSCDC and other relevant agencies are there as I am talking to you,” the SSG said.
