Dismembered body of newborn found in Kano

Body parts of a new born baby cut into different pieces have been found in Wudil town of Kano state.

Residents of Sakau area of SabonGari in Wudil said they woke up Sunday morning to the gory sight of the dismembered body of the baby, saying the legs and head of the new born baby were found in different pieces inside grasses and fire-woods but the body parts have not been found yet.

The ward Head of Sakau area, Mallam Muhammadu Sule, who confirmed the incident, said they have informed the relevant authorities and police for proper investigation.

“It was somebody called Manager who informed me that a new born baby’s legs have been found inside firewood in the area in the early hours of Sunday. I got to the place and saw it too but I found a policeman already arrived. I quickly reported to my village head, who ordered me to also inform the police and the Hisbah.

“We searched but couldn’t find the remaining parts of the baby. It was after we buried the legs, approximately two hours later that I was informed that the baby’s head has also been found inside grasses. We reported again to the authorities, and we had to dig out the legs we buried,” he said.

Muhammad also said that the new born baby’s head and legs were taken to Wudil hospital for body autopsy where doctor confirmed that the baby was cut into different pieces.

Shehu Abdullahi, who said he witnessed the incident, told Daily Trust that they suspect that someone gave birth, cut the baby into pieces and threw it away or for some kind of ritualistic activities.

The village Head of Sabon Gari Wudil, Alhaji Garba Me Disai, who also confirmed the incident, urged residents to be very sensitive and report any suspicious activity in their areas to the concern authorities for appropriate actions.
