A Senior Special Assistant to Governor Douye Diri on Special Duties and Chairman of Niger Delta Ex-agitators’ Leadership Forum, First Phase, Bayelsa State chapter, Mr Charles Kurobo, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing hunger as his major reason for defection.
The governor’s aide said he is back home to APC to prevent hunger from killing him.
He said he has no choice but to come out with the truth and clear his image as family members and others who depend on him have lost faith in him because he can no longer afford to take care of his responsibilities, despite working with Givernor Diri.
He said, “My position as a serving SSA to the governor on special duties is supposed to have a positive impact on the lives of those around me, especially my immediate family. But unfortunately, recharging my phone for effective communication would have been a great challenge if not for the timely intervention of other critical stakeholders from our Niger Delta region.

“It is such a pity that with the level of hunger and starvation deliberately created by His Excellency the governor, Senator Douye Diri, the administration still musters courage to garner the kind of support I see and perceive from some Bayelsans.
“Does it mean we have not learnt enough? Or are we yet to understand that we will be heading into another four years of real hardship which will be worse than what we are currently experiencing or even more? Where is our sense of pride?
“We have never been a myopic set of people, will never be and should not be seen as such and that is why I want Bayelsa State and its people to know that the way to go is not Senator Diri’s direction.”
He promised to work for the victory of the APC candidate, Timipre Sylva, in the November 11 election.
