The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) has urged the federal government to develop standards and codes that will improve standards in the sustainable energy sector which is a critical driver of Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
The president of the institute, Engr. Felix Olu, stated this in Abuja at the just concluded NIEE 2024 conference themed, ‘Harnessing Standards for Sustainable Energy and Economic Growth’.
He said, “There is a crucial need to develop standards, codes, and guidelines in energy development in order to tackle the issue of quackery and enhance standardisation of goods and services. This is the only way we can boost efficiency in the sector.
Also, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, emphasised that aligning with global best practices ensures that innovations in sustainable energy are accessible across the country’s diverse regions.
