Citing Mavin Records signee, Rema, as an example, the DJ noted that despite the tragedies that the young man has faced in life, he has not only become successful in the music industry but a force to be reckoned with.

DJ Exprezioni who has worked with established acts like Niniola, Sarz, among others said, “The industry is saturated with a lot of talent, to be seen and recognized among the many, you have to be really brave and put in the hard work.

“People see Rema and other young artistes who are currently dominating the industry and think that they were lucky to be chosen by the industry bigwigs. What they don’t know is that many of these rave-of-the-moment artistes started cultivating their talent from way back.

“Rema used to perform in his church, formed a boy band and even with the many tragedies that plagued him, kept on pushing his music thing. He found fame thanks to the cover he did of D Prince’s song and someone will see that and think, it’s also going to be the same thing for him. But what that person fails to realize is that Rema had been doing a lot of covers before then. He was consistent.”

In a series of tweets in September 2020, the Rema shared with his fans how he rose to fame, debunking insinuations that his road to fame was a bed of roses.

While speaking his mind via his Twitter handle, the singer noted how his father was murdered and life changed for the worse in his family.

Part of his tweet stated, “Niggas don’t wanna see a kid win, they feel I got it too easy. I shower with my sweat, we go off on this side like the days in BENIN it got nun to do with my deal, come and sign these papers without a hustler spirit, you gone lose! Management gone chang my password now lol.

“Eric, Sorry I stole your Laptop in 2017, I know you were trying to help me. My Mom had a child on the way, I was the only man in my family. They made fun of her because she got pregnant, I wanted to prove them wrong bro, I had to do it.

“When my late brother did house parties y’all came when he died only 2 friends stood beside his death bed. That’s why I’m not comfortable around people, they love me because I have something to offer, You know yourselves don’t let me catch you!!!”(sic)
