The General Manager (GM) of the FCT Water Board, Engr Tauheed A. Amusan, on Thursday, said that despite the recent increase in the water rate in the nation’s capital, the FCT Administration (FCTA) is still heavily subsidising the commodity for residents.
Engr Amusan, while fielding questions from journalists, said the board recently increased a cubic metre of its water from N80 for domestic consumers to N110 and to N300 for commercial customers.
He noted that the increments became imperative because of the high cost of production as most of the treatment ingredients were imported.
He explained that at the moment it cost around N200 to produce a cubic metre of water and that the FCTA was still subsiding a cubic metre with over N100.

He, therefore, pleaded with residents to continue to show understanding with the board and pay their bills promptly and directly to the board’s account for effective service delivery.
