Despite the curfew imposed on Cross River State by Governor Ben Ayade, another doctor, Godwin Udo along with three others have been kidnapped.

Following the development, the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) in the state announced that they would embark on strike.

The victim, a staff of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, was kidnapped at about 7pm on November 1, 2020 from his house on Bateba Street.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incident.

According to a witness, five men stormed the doctor’s residence while he was driving into his compound.

Dr Udo was then taken away and a N7 million ransom has been demanded.

Three other persons were also abducted. They are; Emmanuel Asuquo, Nsikak Etienne and Okeke Onukwebe.

Last month, four persons were kidnapped in Calabar metropolis, including one Dr Vivien Otu, a paediatrician UCT.

Others are Dr. Anthony Egbe, a lecturer at the Cross River State University of Technology ( CRUTECH) and Mr. Joe Offiong, a safety department staff of UNICEM.
