Despite arrests, whereabouts of Rarara’s mother unknown

Despite the arrest of two suspects in connection with the kidnap of Hajiya Halima Adamu, mother of the famous Hausa Singer, Dauda Adamu Rarara, her whereabouts still unknown 24 hours after.

Recall that Hajiya Hauwa’u was kidnapped in the early hours of Friday from her residence in Kahutu village, Danja LGA and taken to an unknown location.

According to a source in the village, the bandits stormed the village around 1am Friday and abducted the aged woman.

“The bandits came on foot and silently because they did not fire a single shot during the operation that lasted for just a few minutes. The woman did not resist when the bandits requested her to go along with them.”

“Although the bandits met other people at the house, they only picked Rarara’s mother, leaving behind others. No attempt to confront the bandits while leaving the house because they were armed with guns”, the source said.

But hours later, the police in Katsina State said they have arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction.

The police spokesman in Katsina, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, in a statement Friday evening, said the two suspects were being interrogated by the authorities.

Attempt to speak to Rarara yesterday proved abortive as his mobile phone line was switched off, and he didn’t respond to a text message sent to him by our reporter.

Rarara was the chairman of presidential singers during the former President Muhammadu Buhari administration and his songs played significant role in mobilising supporters for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially amongst the Huasa speaking communities in Nigeria.
