In Taraba, Microsoft certified system Engineer is Ishaku’s deputy
At 42, the deputy governor of Taraba state, Alhaji Haruna Manu is about the youngest person to occupy such position in the state.
He is a graduate of Business Administration at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a holder of master’s degree in Electronic Commerce from the prestigious Graduate School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University in the United States of America.
He is also a Microsoft certified system Engineer. Alhaji Manu was born in Mutum- Biyu, the headquarters of Gassol LGA in 1973.
Prior to his political career, Alhaji Manu is better known in the private sector as he is an accomplished international and local business man.
He spent many years in the United states of America where he established chain of business, mostly in wireless and satellite communication before returning to Nigeria.
Back in Nigeria, he worked at the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) as well as MTN Nigeria communication Limited.
Manu later established soft link communication firm which audits and manages salary payment system of many private companies and state governments.
The soft link was engaged by Taraba State government to audit and manage salary system of civil servants. Millions of Naira was recovered through the audit.
Satisfied with the performance of Manu’s firm, the former governor of Taraba state, Danbaba Suntai developed interest in him. He encouraged him to join politics. It was in the strength of this relationship with the former governor that Haruna Manu  opted for politics.
In late 2010, Manu joined the PDP and contested for the Gassolali Federal Constituency seat of National Assembly and won.
He was the deputy chairman, House committee on Banking and Currency and member of various committees in the House of Representatives.
Having served his constituency while in the National Assembly, Manu became one of the leading young politicians not only in the Taraba central zone but also in the state.
His performance, it was gathered, was responsible for the decision to choose him as the running mate to Governor Darius Ishaku on the platform of the PDP in the 2015 general elections.
His press secretary, Mallam Lawal Sani Kona, told Daily Trust on Sunday that there was a cordial working relationship between the deputy governor and his boss, Governor Ishaku.
The press secretary said the deputy governor was given a number of positions to handle, including the chairman , State Boundary Commission, the chairman, State Emergency Management Agency as well as the coordinator, Special Project on Cocoa Production.
“My boss’ deepness in international and local business is of benefit to the state which is struggling to survive the current economic down turn,” the press secretary stressed.
Alhaji Manu is married with children.
A MAN WHO SERVED TWO STATES IS GOMBE DEPUTY GOVERNOR
Honourable Charles Yau Ilyas is the deputy governor of Gombe  State. His attributes of loyalty, obedience, humility, calmness and perseverance in the face of adversity have been working for him.
He is known for his simplicity, kindness, hard work and dedication. These qualities have enabled him to win the confidence of the governor and many people across the State.
Ilyas’ rich background and experience in the civil service and politics help his choice as Deputy Governor.
He played a significant role that led to the success of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his area and many parts of the State.
Ilyas was elected member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Billiri, Balanga Federal Constituency between 2003 and 2007.
Born on April 17, 1952, he attended Saint Andrews Primary School, Billiri, 1960 to 1967,Vilanova Secondary School, Numan, 1968 to 1972, Government Secondary School, Ganye, 1973 to 1974. Thereafter, he moved to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria,1974 to 1977, where he read Political Science.
He did his NYSC in Cross River State, 1977 to 1978. Determined to be a core professional, he returned to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria for his M.P.A course work. He was subsequently admitted into University of Birmingham (UK) for Development Administration, 1983 to 1984.
The deputy governor of Gombe State attended Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in 1989. He worked for more than two decades as a civil servant, precisely between 1978 and 2002. He retired and joined politics.
He has held several positions, including Assistant Secretary, Acting Secretary, Secretary and Assistant General Manager Finance and Administration, Bauchi State Water Board.
He was transferred to the main service in Bauchi State as Director, Personnel, a position he held before he was deployed to Gombe State after its creation.
He was appointed as Sole Administrator, Balanga Local Government Area (LGA). He was later deployed to the Ministry as Director, Administration and Finance. Thereafter, he was appointed Chairman, Transition Committee, Billiri LGA in 2002.
The deputy governor was appointed as Senior Special Assistant to Gombe State Governor, 2007 to 2011. He was a board member of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO), Lagos. He was appointed Special Adviser, Political to Gombe State Governor on February 7, 2014. He was picked as the running mate of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo in the April 2015 governorship election.
Charles gets traditional tittles; among them Danruwatan Tangale, Shettiman Waja, Garkuwan Kalamai.
He is a member of several associations and clubs. He likes reading, farming and debating political topics.
A THREE-TIME REP MEMBER IS ADAMAWA DEPUTY GOVERNOR
Martin Babale is the deputy governor of Adamawa State. Babale came to the limelight when he was elected Counselor  of Toungo Local Government Area in the late 90s.
He won an election in 1999 as a member representing Ganye/Toungo/Jada/Mayobelwa Constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Babale served three consecutive terms of four years each in the House of Representatives before he was defeated at the 2011 PDP primary election.
Babale, who is an engineer by profession, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was subsequently picked as running mate to Senator Muhammad Jibrilla, the APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2015 governorship election.
He became deputy governor to Governor Jibrilla, following the victory of his party in the last election. Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that he has a very good relationship with the governor.
His political associates include the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Sadiq Kalu and Mansur Toungo.
Babale, who is a Chamba by tribe, hailed from Toungo area in Southern part of the State.
The late Governor Ali’s brother is Yobe’s deputy governor
Engineer Abubakar Ali, who is the deputy governor of Yobe State, was born on April 5, 1966 in Yola, Adamawa state.
He had his early education at Central Primary School, Jimeta, Yobe State. He proceeded to Government Science Secondary School, Monguno in Borno state. He had both primary and secondary education between 1973 and 1984.
Engr. Ali obtained Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate in Civil Engineering from Kaduna Polytechnic and Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at University of Maiduguri.
The member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN) had served Yobe state in different capacity.
He joined the civil service as Project Engineer in 1987. He was promoted to the rank of Managing Director of Housing and Property Development Corporation. He rose to the position of Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing.
The seasoned administrator and politician, who retired from civil service in 2009, became Governor Ibrahim Gaidam’s second-in-command after the demise of his late brother, Senator Mamman Ali.
Pundits say the deputy governor is seen as a political novice because his selection is considered as a way to appease his family members over the death of Governor Ali.
But despite this view, Ali was again considered as running mate for the second time, an action which made many people to reconsider their stand on his political relevance in Zone B.
Analysts say though he is loyal to Governor Gaidam, the political misfortune suffered by the APC in his zone during the last general elections has given more impetus to his critics.

In the past, he lost elections into the Senate and the House of Representatives to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his zone.
Borno dep gov is a member of Biu Emirate Council

Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa was sworn-in as Deputy Governor of Borno State on October 16, 2015. Alhaji Durkwa became deputy governor, following the death of the former second-in-command, Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha, in Yola, Adamawa State while on official assignment.
Before assuming his new and higher capacity, he was the immediate past Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation.
He was also a commissioner throughout the first term of Governor Kashim Shettima from 2011 to 2015. Durkwa also served government during the 8-year administration of former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff.
Durkwa, who hails from Hawul local government area, is a member of Biu Emirate Council in Southern Borno State.
Bauchi deputy governor is a builder
Engineer Nuhu Gidado, the deputy governor of Bauchi State, was born on October 5, 1958. He is one of the children of the late Waziri of Jama’are in Bauchi State.
Coming from a royal but humble background, he attended the famous and prestigious Barewa College, Zaria where he obtained his O-level.
The Bauchi State deputy governor attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he bagged his first degree in Building Engineering.
Having enjoyed government scholarship all through his early education, he started his working career as a civil servant with the Bauchi State government from 1983 to 1992, where he rose through the ranks from Building Engineer II up to an acting Director.
During those ten years of service with his state government, records show Engineer Gidado’s exemplary and sterling qualities.
He was commended for selfless service in 1985 and given an accelerated promotion in 1987.
He later earned another commendation for dedication to duty in 1987 another accelerated promotion in 1988 for his dedication and devotion to duty. He capped his achievements in Bauchi State civil service with another promotion in 1990.
By the end of 1992, Engr. Gidado transferred his services to the Federal Government, where he was absorbed as an Engineer and a Projects Coordinator for the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
Engineer Gidado, while at the NDIC, displayed his acumen, dedication and organisational skills and initiatives which were highly commended and rewarded with promotions.
To his Engineering credit is the NDIC headquarters’ building in Abuja.
Engineer Gidado voluntarily retired from public service and went into the private sector as a professional builder.
He is currently, a Director in various, but mainly, Construction and Engineering companies, including Brixman Construction Limited; Buildings Limited; Geas Services Limited and Metroline Limited.
The deputy governor is a Corporate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) and a Registered Member, Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON).
He also received various honours from many organisations and held many positions amongst which are; chairman, NIOB, Bauchi State chapter (1989), member, Distinguished Service Merit Award for Excellence by the Institute of Corporate Executives of Nigeria (2003), Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation (2007), Award for Excellence by the National Union of Bauchi State Students (2009).
Other awards obtained by the deputy governor are; Community Peace Award by the National Peace Summit Group (2010); Life Patron, Leadership Trust Foundation (2012); Fellow/Member Board of Trustees by the Certified Institute of Management, Nigeria (2012) and an Honourary Doctorate Degree in Business Management by the All Saints University of America (ASUA) in 2012.
Engineer Gidado also holds the traditional titles of the Sardaunan Jama’are, in Bauchi State and Olotu Aare of Laje Land in Ondo State.
He lives a modest and low profiled life style, one that is devoid of riches and flamboyance. He sacrifices everything for the less privileged. Engr. Gidado is identified as a silent but gallant fighter, a leader of a movement that is out to institute social justice, and a true player in the fight for a new Nigeria.
By way of corporate social responsibility, Engr. Gidado has helped several but needy pupils and students with sponsorships in education galvanised into the establishment of an N.G.O, the Nuhu Gidado Organisation.
His is a family of not more than 8. He is known for his simplicity and rare countenance towards people which endeared him to students, women, middle class workers, traders, religious groups and myriads of youth movements.
The people of his home state, Bauchi, having discovered his very compassionate nature were quick to be nicknamed “Zuciyar Talakawa” in hausa, meaning- the “heart of the masses”.
Engr. Gidado ventured into partisan politics in 2011 and contested for governorship of his State on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC).
The Bauchi State deputy governor is married with children.
