The Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Toni Azeigbemi, has said the withdrawal of suit by the state deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, against Governor Godwin Obaseki, is a step in the right direction and good omen for the party in the state.
Azeigbemi spoke with Daily Trust Thursday in a separate interview in Benin, the state capital, after addressing newsmen on the September 2, 2022 local government election in which he commended Edo people for overwhelmingly voting for the party.
He said, “Withdrawing the case is a step in the right direction, I think in the first instance, going to court was not an option.

“This is the right thing to do. Things have to happen for other things to happen. But since this has happened, we have a 50-50 chance of better things to come.”
Azeigbemi described the party’s victory as a covenant between the party and the people for good governance.
“The PDP won all the chairmanship and councillorship positions in the 18 local government areas and the 192 wards in the state. It was a loud endorsement and a vote of confidence in the PDP administration led by Godwin Obaseki,” he said.
