Democracy Day: 3 military officers collapse at Abuja parade

Three military personnel collapsed at the Democracy Day parade held at the Eagle Square in Abuja yesterday.

They are members of the different units of the military.

The parade, inspected by President Muhammadu Buhari, was ongoing when some security and medical personnel were seen scrambling stretchers to take those who collapsed to the tents provided at the venue where physicians resuscitated them.

It was not clear whether they were able to return to their duty beats for the continuation of their duties.

The event was attended by former President Goodluck Jonathan, the All Progressives Congress’ presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Idris Wase; the Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Tanko Muhammad and the APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, among others.

The event involved combat march display by the Nigerian Army Women Corps as well as the combined silent drill display by the Armed Forces and Police.

The event also featured the combine band/silent drill display by the Armed Forces and advance in review order.

Buhari also signed the anniversary register, followed by the parade commander leading three hearty cheers.
