Delta delivers relief to flood victims, eases hardship in Oshimili South

Delta State government has provided relief materials to flood victims in Oshimili South Local Government Area of the state.

Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Etacherure Ejiro Terry, who led the distribution on behalf of the governor said the items will impact the lives of the families affected by the devastating floods.

Joined by the Director of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Karo Ovemeso, and officials from the Public Complaints Unit, Hon. Terry distributed mattresses, food items including rice, wheat, and semovita, as well as salt, sugar, and cooking oil.

He said, “This intervention shows the government’s commitment to supporting all Deltans in times of need,” Terry emphasised.

The distribution of the relief materials followed a recent inspection tour led by Hon. Terry to assess the flood damage in vulnerable areas around the Stephen Keshi Stadium, the former JAMB Office, and the Nigerian Christian Corpers’ Fellowship located by the River Niger.

He said “Seeing the severe impact of the floods firsthand motivated our immediate response.”

Terry also fulfilled a personal cash donation promise made during his visit, demonstrating solidarity with affected residents and noted that Governor Oborevwori’s administration is committed to alleviating the suffering of every resident, especially during emergencies.
