The council led by Pere S.P. Luke Kalanama VIII, who is also the First Vice Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, expressed its concern in a six-point communiqué after a meeting at the Akugbene-Mein palace.
The Chiefs said, “We urge the federal authorities to implement workable economic policies to alleviate the hardships Nigerians are facing,” said Pere S.P. Luke Kalanama VIII.
“The soaring cost of living is unsustainable and must be addressed to put Nigeria back on the path to growth and prosperity.”

The chiefs also raised an alarm over the damage caused by recurring floods in coastal areas, which devastated farmlands and properties and called on the government to develop a long-term solution to end the seasonal floods.
