The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Monday Ossai Oshiji, a chief in Ebedei Ukwuole community in Ukwuani LGA, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old JSS 1 student.

City & Crime reports that the spokesman of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday, said that the suspect, who was said to be in his late 50s and married to four wives and with several children, gave his victim some money before deceiving her into an uncompleted building and raping her.

The victim alleged that the suspect threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident.

A source, who noted that it was not the suspect’s first attempt, said, “The third attempt was what exposed him after he forced her to take drugs. It was when the victim was bleeding excessively that she opened up to her mother.”
