Delta 2022: NSF’s Torch of Unity arrives Gombe State

The National Sports Festival (NSF) Torch of Unity which is on a tour of the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Tuesday arrived in Gombe, the capital of Gombe State.

The Chairman of Gombe State Sports Commission, Dr Larry Daniel Terry, represented by the Commission’s Director of Technical, Mrs Zainab Ishaku, who received the symbol of unity on behalf of the government and people of the state, expressed gratitude to Gombe State governor, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa, for his unalloyed support.

While presenting the Torch of Unity to the Director, Garba Musa, who led the team to Gombe, said that by receiving the torch, the state had confirmed its participation in the forthcoming sports festival in Asaba, Delta State.

Mrs Zainab, therefore, charged all coaches and athletes of Gombe State to redouble their efforts in training in preparation for the festival.

It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had flagged off the Torch of Unity movement signifying the commencement of the21st NSF tagged “Delta 2022”.

Represented by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Buhari expressed his delight over the forthcoming sports festival, which he described as the engine room for producing great champions that will represent the country at international competitions.

He stated that most of Nigeria’s outstanding stars were discovered at past editions of the sports festival.
