The Gombe State Sports Commission has expressed its readiness to host the 2022 National Sports Festival North-east Zonal Elimination.
The Chairman of the Commission, Dr Larry Daniel Terry has confirmed that the Commission with the support of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya will host the Zonal Qualifiers.

“After due consultations and approval from the state government, we’ve accepted the zonal office’s request for us to host the zonal elimination and we’ll do it to the best of our ability.
Gombe State is like a centre in the Northeast. We’re ready to welcome everyone to the “Jewel of the Savanah”.
“As you know, our governor is a lover of sports. He has been supportive and we thank him for that. Our resolve to host this event is with his full consent and he has approved it. We are glad that he did and we will do everything we can to ensure that we host a successful event,” he assured.
The Zonal Elimination will feature the following team events, Basketball (Male & Female) Baseball/Softball, Volleyball/Beach Volleyball (Male & Female), Handball (Male & Female), Hockey (Male & Female), Football (Male & Female) and Abula.
Team Gombe will feature in Basketball (Male & Female)
Cricket, volleyball/beach volleyball (Male & Female), handball (Male), hockey (Male) and football (Male & Female)
The elimination series will run from Monday, October 3 to October 7 with most events taking place at the Pantami stadium Gombe.
Meanwhile, two teams from each event will qualify to represent the zone at the 2022 National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State.
