The former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the defunct Trans International Bank Plc, Alhaji Hassan Olasupo Arogundade, has died at the age of 83.

The late Arogundade, who was the Asiwaju of Ilobu Land and the community’s Aare Musulumi died on Thursday (December 13, 2018), four days after returning from a prolonged trip to the United States of America, where he was receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

According to Alhaji Dauda Adebisi-Balogun, President of Ilobu Development Union (IDU) – a community’s socio-political group and umbrella body for the sons and daughters of the community, Arogundade was a strong pillar the town rested on.

He said his death is a huge loss to the people of Ilobu irrespective of religious, economic and social backgrounds.

The ex-banker, who was the pioneer President of the community’s union, was a Fellow of Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (FCCA); Fellow, Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB); Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA); Council Member, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.

Arogundade, who completed his Final Certificate of Chartered Institute of Secretaries at City London College in 1965, also attended Harrow Technical College, London for his Final Certificate of Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, before joining Adhesive Tapes Limited (Manufacturers of Seelotape Products) in Borehamwood England as a Senior Clerk.

He was the Chief Accountant of Coast Timber Group of Companies of King’s Street, London from 1970-1972 and was transferred to Lagos office in 1972.

Alhaji Arogundade was Chief Accountant of International Paint of West Africa Limited; Chief Accountant of International Bank of West Africa Limited where he rose to the position of Deputy Administrative Manager, Administrative Manager, Deputy General Manager (Finance), General Manager and Deputy Managing Director, Trans International Bank Plc.

A philanthropist and religious leader, Alhaji Arogundade was a respected member of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria where he won Gold Merit Award bestowed on him by the Lagos Branch on May 28, 2000.
