Deforestation: FG distributes solar equipment to Gombe communities

The federal government through the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) has distributed the Solar Home System to rural communities in Dukku, Funakaye and Nafada Local Government Areas of Gombe State.

The items distributed in collaboration with the Gombe State Government are; a solar panel, inverter, standing fan, radio set and torch lights to help curb deforestation in the communities.

Presenting the items in the respective communities, NAGGW Field Officer in the state, Ibrahim Salisu Tahir, said the three LGAs were selected considering the high impact of desertification and gully erosion in their various communities.

He also the agency had also trained people from various communities of the three LGAs animal rearing, skill acquisitions programmes and drilling of boreholes, to ease the suffering of the communities.

The field officer urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given to them.

In a remark, representative of the Coordinator of the Gombe Goes Green (3Gs) project, Muhammad Dawaki applauded the efforts of the federal and the state government for providing the Solar Home system to the rural dwellers.

On his part, the Senior District Head of Bajoga, Alhaji Garba Muhammad, commended the NAGGW and the state government for considering his community for the programme.
