WASA, as it is popularly known over time, is a standing social event of the Nigerian Army where officers and the junior ranks, their families, well-wishers and friends socially interact in a relaxed atmosphere to celebrate the cultural values of the Nigerian people and reward personnel that have excelled in their duties. NDASA is NDA’s version of WASA.
One of the honoured staffers, 59-year-old Mohammed Usman Kano, who benefited from the Commandant’s cash prize, told Sunday Trust he has been working in the Academy for over 30 years.
“I have one wife and five children and it is with my job as a gardener in the Academy House that I have been taking care of my family,” Kano said.
He is head gardener to the incumbent NDA Commandant, whom he saw come in as a Lieutenant-Colonel but has since risen to a Major-General.
