The commissioner stated that this was premised on the need to support efforts of professional printers to ensure standards are enforced in the nation’s printing sector.
He said his command would not sit and watch fake printers have a field day. Manko spoke in Lagos during the award ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON).
He also said the importance of printers registration with the institute cannot be over-emphasised.
The president of CIPPON, Alhaji Wahab Muhammed Lawal said the institute had been informed of anti-regulation activities of some pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria who are importing printed chipboard for conversion into drug packs under the pretext of importing raw materials.
He said some prominent printing houses are also importing printed chipboards under the pretext of importing boards and paper for printing products.
According to him, these acts are capable of rendering some honest and viable licensed printing organizations jobless and forcing them to retrench their workers, while dealers in printing consumables in Nigeria will face some hard times.
