Death toll in attack on Benue communities now 10

The death toll has risen to 10 following the attack by armed invaders on rural communities of Agatu Local Government Area in Benue State.

Daily Trust had earlier reported eight people killed after the armed invasion on Saturday, which led to more villagers fleeing their abodes.

Some villagers said the death toll could be more than 10 as search parties were still looking for missing persons as of Monday afternoon.

But, the member representing Agatu Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Godwin Edoh, put the figure at 10 when he spoke with our correspondent on telephone.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene, said she was yet to have such reports.
