A man, who trades near the incident’s scene, explained that the dead baby must have been abandoned at a dump site by an unprepared mother.

Residents of the area, while condemning the act of abandoning babies to die at dump sites, urged parents, especially mothers, to pay close attention on their girl children so that they would not end up with unwanted pregnancies thereby resulting in such unfortunate acts.

When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, said the incident had not been reported to the police.
