David de Gea is set to become the highest paid goalkeeper in the world when he signs his new Manchester United contract.

The Red Devils began their negotiations with the shot-stopper in the first months of 2018 and they have finally reached an agreement for his renewal, in which he will earn a 21 million euros gross for each of the five seasons at the Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho has absolute confidence in the player and has been wanting to tie him down before the temptations came from the capital of Spain.

In fact, De Gea almost made the switch to Real Madrid in both of the past two summers, but it seems like he will stay put in England.

Last April, the basis for the agreement was finalised and now the only thing missing is the goalkeeper’s signature, which will be signed once the World Cup ends.

And with this new lucrative deal, there is no other goalkeeper on the planet who will earn as much as De Gea at Manchester United.

Manuel Neuer earns approximately 15m euros at Bayern Munich while other keepers are far from what the Spaniard will receive.
