An environmental conservation organisation, Dawn Project, has announced the launch of its annual climate change competition for 2024.
The organisation noted in a statement that the competition, themed: “Oceans of Opportunity: Preserving Today for Tomorrow,” would be dedicated to addressing the consequences of climate change, plastic pollution and ecosystem/biodiversity degradation.
It also noted that this year’s competition offered opportunities for different categories of children and adults to participate.
It quoted the founder of Dawn Project, Dr Pamela Ajayi as saying, “Oceans play an essential role in the fight against climate change and the creation of a sustainable future, but it is our responsibility to preserve them for future generations. Oceans are a cornerstone of the earth’s climate system, serving as major carbon sinks and heat absorbers, thus helping to regulate global temperatures. This theme serves as a reminder of the positive impact ocean conservation can have on our environment.”
