Davido, Burna Boy, six others shortlisted for MOBO Awards

This year’s MOBO Awards, an annual event honouring the best “music of black origin” in the UK, have eight Nigerian musicians nominated.

Adekunle Gold, Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido, Rema, and Wizkid are all competitors for the Best African Music Act award, according to MOBO’s announcement on Thursday.

Also getting a nod for a nomination in the Best Gospel Act category is Nigerian gospel singer Samuel Onwubiko, also known as Limoblaze.

The nine Nigerian artists who were nominated for African Act of the Year in the previous year [2022] were Burna Boy, Adekunle Gold, Tems, Asake, Rema, Oxlade, Omah Lay, and Fireboy DML.
