Dasuki: Court summons AGF over siege

A Federal High Court in Abuja has summoned the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), over the siege on the home of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola made the order yesterday after Dasuki’s counsel Joseph Daudu (SAN) told the court that the home of the ex-NSA has been under siege since November 4.
Dasuki, who is facing charges of illegal possession of firearms and money laundering before the court, was on November 3 granted leave to travel abroad for medical treatment.
Following the siege on Dasuki’s house at 13 John Kadija Street, Asokoro in Abuja by the Department of State Services (DSS), which was predicated on fresh investigation, defence counsels filed a fundamental rights enforcement application before the court.
The judge observed that in a sworn affidavit the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mohammed Diri, stated that the DSS has concluded its investigation on the matter.
He therefore ordered the AGF to appear and explain why the prosecution was obstructing the order of the court and adjourned the case to November 16 for hearing.
