Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has approved N1.3 billion for free treatment of people infected with hepatitis in the state.
Darius said at the flag-off of hepatitis treatment access programme in Jalingo at the weekend that the state had gone into partnership with Roche Pharmaceutical Company to offer quality services in screening, vaccination and treatment of hepatitis.
He said the state was witnessing high prevalence of hepatitis, resulting in death and suffering of many people hence the decision to intervene, as part of the agenda of his administration was to ensure good health of citizens.
He said under the partnership, screening would be done and vaccination given for preventive purpose while treatment would be offered to infected people.
