Gunmen on Monday shot dead the son of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dapo Sarumi, Toyin Adeniji, in Lagos.

The 47-year-old Adeniji was shot on Monday night in front of his father’s house in the Agege area.

Seven suspects have since been arrested for their involvement in the killing.

Though details of the killing were still sketchy as at press time, sources said the assailants approached Adeniji while he was in company of his friends on Oyewole Street, Agege.

Chief Sarumi is a former Minister of Communication and former Deputy National Chairman (South West) of the PDP.

Lagos State police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, replied to an SMS on the matter: “Seven suspects are in custody. Investigation is ongoing at SCID.”
