The Deputy Inspector General of Police, in charge of operation, Habila Joshak has relocated to Yobe State to intensify search and ensure safe return of the 110 abducted schoolgirls of Government Girls Science and Technical College Dapchi.
The DIG who spoke to newsmen after a close door meeting with Governor Ibrahim Gaidam at the Government House Damaturu, said his deployment was in compliance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive.
He said the federal government has deployed it’s capabilities and capacity to ensure that security agencies have linked up with Operation Lafia Dole, to ensure the success of the operation.
"We will make intelligence available and participate in the search and rescue of the girls so that we get them in good time and reunite them with their families", he said.
Habila also revealed that they have deployed police officers and men to provide adequate security that would ensure peaceful learning atmospherein all schools across the state.
The DIG, who sympathized with the people of Yobe over the unfortunate incident also assured that all security agencies are partnering and working towards the schoolgirls rescue, while calling on the entire communities to help them with useful information.
"You will bear with me that, in each crime, there is a trace that is left behind because these people are not spirits. They came and perpetrated the crime, and people most have seen them and the route the followed. This privileged information must be utilized", he said.
He called on the officers and men of the force to build public trust by involving or asking people to be part of decisions that effect them directly.
He said that with such efforts of community policing, they will provide confidence in the minds of parents, pupils and student in all schools.
