Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state has nominated eight immediate past commissioners in his administration for re-appointment as members of the executive council.
Resuming from two months recess, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Abubakar Nono, read the names of the eight nominees on the floor of the house.
Daily Trust learnt that the former commissioners have resigned their appointment to vie for different political offices under the PDP, but lost at the recently conducted primary elections of the party.
The nominated are: former commissioners of Cooperative and Community Development, Yusuf Manu Swa, Hassan Muhammadu (Finance), Mohammed Usman Ribadu (Special Duties), Umar Ahmed Sulaiman (Information and Orientation) and Ahmed Abubakar Walama (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs).
Others are Sa’adatu Sa’ad Mustapha (Environment and Forest Resources), Hassan Ahmadu Haruna (Rural Development) and James Sammy Barka (Animal Husbandry and Nomadic Affairs).
In another development, Governor Dankwambo has sent a bill to establish the Gombe State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme and other related matters.
Our correspondent reports that the bill was referred to the joint committee on Finance, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for scrutiny.
The committee is expected to report back to the House in two weeks.
