Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State has donated relief materials to victims of the Saturday flood disaster at Wuro Dole in Akko Local Government Area of the state.
Presenting items to the victims yesterday, Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Dr. Arab Danlami Rukuje, represented by the Head of Relief and Rehabilitation, Mohammed Garba, said they were sent by the governor to assess the level of damage and present relief items.
The materials donated include mattresses, mosquito nets, mats, blankets, bathing soap among others. He said after assessing the extent of damage, they discovered that about 151 houses were washed away rendering 46 households homeless.
A victim, Mohammed Sanda, who lost his house, said he was sleeping when he noticed that water had taken over his home.
He said: “As I am speaking to you now, my family has been relocated to the village primary school. I am the only one living in my house which is now without roof,” he said.
