Handicap nine amateur golfer, Racheal Danjuma on Sunday emerged victorious at the 2022 IBB Ladies Close Championship at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.

Racheal, a police officer, played 74 on day one and 75 on the closing day to outplay other contestants.

The three-day championship was ceremonially teed off on Friday by a former Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara who enjoined the ladies’ section to organise more competitions so as to keep them busy.

Other winners at the three-day championship include, in the Ladies Handicap zero to Eighteen category, J. Abdullahi who scored 164 emerged the category’s Best Nett, Handicap 17 D. Mamza scored 165 as runner-up while Ann Abimiku was third place Nett.

Vice Lady Captain Folashade Olateju won the Ladies’ handicap Nineteen to Thirty -Six category Best Nett, while P.C. Uwandu was adjudged Best Nett in Veteran Ladies.

Past Lady Captain, Grace Ihonvbere who shot 187metres on day One and 175 metres on day two won the longest drive Ladies award. Both E. Emure and Dupe Akinkugbe won Super Best Nett and Runner-up Nett respectively.

Lady Captain, Joy Ikwue while congratulating the winners promised more events before the expiration of the tenure of the present executive.

The ceremonial tee-, which took place on Friday last week had eminent personalities in attendance.  These include members of the board of trustees of IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, the Club Captain, Mike Ekoja, President, Nigeria Golf Federation,  Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, former NNPC GMD, Andrew Yakubu among others.
