Dangote Cement PLC has projected to increase its cement production from its current 52 million metric tons to 61 million metric tons across the continent before the end of 2024.
The president, Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, revealed this during a customers and distributors award event held during the weekend in Lagos.
Giving a breakdown of the spiral increase from 52 million metric tons to 61 million tons, translating to 17.3 percent, the president said the firm will add three and six million metric tons to the plant in Cote d’Ivoire and Itori respectively.
“We have remained Africa’s leading cement producer with at the moment about 52 million metric tons in capacity across the country and we are also adding another 6 million tonnes in Itori and also the one of Côte d’Ivoire which is 3 million tons. So in total by the end of next year, we will have a total of 61 million tons across the continent before the end next year,” he said.

He added that cement production in Nigeria has witnessed improvement , saying that the country boasts of exportation of cement to other Africa neighboring countries.
He said the company has project capacity of 35.25m tons in Nigeria with Obajena having 16.25m tons, 12m tons in Ibeshe plant, 4m tons in Gboko and 3m tons in Okpelam.
