Dangote Cement Plc. has initiated a malaria intervention programme in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, aimed at providing free malaria treatment to host communities.
The programme was launched as part of the commemoration of World Malaria Day and to contribute to Nigeria’s progress towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which focuses on promoting good health and well-being.
Dr Igazeuma Okoroba, the Group Head of Sustainability at Dangote Cement Plc., emphasised the significance of the company’s engagement with host communities, particularly in addressing healthcare challenges.
She stressed the importance of healthy individuals in driving economic development and reaffirmed Dangote Cement’s commitment to supporting health initiatives in Edo State.

The intervention, spanning two days, aims to provide comprehensive healthcare services, including malaria treatment, to vulnerable individuals in the community. The company distributed medications and mosquito nets, urging beneficiaries to take preventive measures against malaria transmission.
Engr Sunday Adondua, the Coordinator of Sustainability at Dangote Cement Plc., said the company is dedicated to reducing the incidence of malaria in host communities.
Comrade Victor Ojeifo, Director of Community Health Service, praised Dangote Cement for its medical outreach programme, saying collaboration between organisations and communities is key in addressing healthcare needs of the people.
