Dangote Fertiliser Limited (DFL) has started a cassava enterprises programme to empower 150 Project Affected Persons (PAPs) to support livelihoods in host communities impacted by its 54km gas pipeline to the fertiliser plant.
Implemented by HarvestPlus and DFL Social team, the firm will train farmers and potential entrepreneurs on by-products of cassava and cassava stem cells.

The host communities comprise five Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDA), which include Ibeju Lekki, Lekki LCDA, Epe, Eredo and Ikosi.
In 2019, Dangote started the installation of a 54km gas pipeline along the Epe axis, to transport gas to its fertiliser plant.
The pipeline Right of Way (RoW) impacted some communities, along with farmers whose farmlands and crops were affected.
The General Manager, Human Asset Management, Dangote Fertiliser Limited, Akin Oladiran, said: “We want to eliminate the impact completely. We are also using this programme to further support the means of livelihood of Project Affected Persons.”
Chairman of Eredo LCDA Adeniyi Rasaq said: “We want to be known for agriculture and tourism, and what Dangote is doing is not just CSR, it is also helping the division to discover its potential in farming.”
Group Social Manager, Group Health, Safety, Social and Environment (HSSE), Dangote Industries Ltd, Adenike Olaoye said: “We do not give our host communities fish, we teach them how to fish thereby ensuring sustainable development.”
