Dangote, Al-Makura, Malami get Nasarawa university’s honorary doctorate degrees

The Nasarawa State University, Keffi has conferred honorary doctorate degrees on six prominent Nigerians for distinguishing themselves in various fields of human endeavours.

Those awarded with honorary doctorate degrees are Alhaji Akiko Dangote, Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group of Companies; a former governor of Nasarawa State, currently serving senator representing Nasarawa South at the National Assembly, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and Malami Meme Kyari, group managing director, NNPC.

Other recipients of the awards are chief Peter Eloka Okocha, the Chief Executive Officer of Okocha Motors; Alhaji Aliyu Balarabe, businessman and Abubakar Malami SAN-Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

Conforming the honorary doctorate degrees to the recipients at the 6th combined convocation of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi on Thursday, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, revealed that the Federal Ministry of Education and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) have inaugurated projects worth about N1.6 billion at the institution.

According to him, four of the five projects were inaugurated at different locations in the university while the fifth is through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement with an entrepreneur.

Those projects include the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Complex, Faculty of Environment Sciences Building, Faculty of Education Building, Laboratory Complex and offices.

The VC applauded TETFund and the ministry through its National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (NEEDS) Assessment Intervention for their timely intervention in providing the university with enviable and standard structures among others over the years.
