The Damboa Unity and Development Forum in Borno State yesterday applauded Governor Kashim Shettima for embarking on reconstruction of communities ravaged by the Boko Haram to resettle IDPs and asked that Damboa be included among communities being reconstructed.
Taking the position that the intervention of the governor in Bama, Konduga, Gwoza, Fune, Mafa and Dikwa local government areas had led to the return of many people to their homes, the forum stressed that the governor would be doing a lot of good by considering Damboa in the reconstruction efforts, saying apart from Bama, there was no place in Borno that suffered as much as Damboa and neighbouring communities.
A statement signed by the chairman of the forum, Comrade M.A. Shettima, said most private and public buildings in Damboa local government area had been destroyed and the people left homeless.
