Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung has warned sports federation presidents against taking athletes outside the country without due clearance from the ministry as such federation will be sanctioned.
Dalung stated this yesterday when athletes and officials of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) led by its President, Daniel Igali presented the trophy won at the just-concluded African Wrestling Championship held in Alexandria, Egypt to him.
“Any president of that federation that moves athletes outside the country without due clearance from the ministry is on his own and will be sanctioned.”
The Minister, who commended the NWF President for his leadership quality in keeping the federation together, urged the team to remain focused in their Olympic qualification bid, and charged the team to perform better than their previous feats in order to further allure the glory of wrestling as a medal hopeful game.
