Miss Rabiyat Usman, a researcher with Daily Trust has won the maiden edition of Leadercom 2019 which held recently in Abuja.

Rabiyat who is a 1st Class Computer Science graduate advised fellow youth to use the social media to their advantage.

Speaking with YOUTHVILLE, she said the social media could be gainfully used to direct the attention of youth into positive things that would promote self-reliance.

LeaderCom is a platform that develops person’s ability to communicate and present his or her ideas, passion, wisdom, experience and knowledge in effective and powerful ways.

The event with the theme, “My journey, my truth”, attracted hundreds of applications, 27 participants from which 12 finalists were chosen across the country who applied through social media to contest in a presentation of leadership ideas.

The five day event was organised by ServeLead Global and Social Good Fund, both non governmental organisations.

Speaking further about the event, the winner said she applied to participate in the event using the social media. “If there is something you want to speak about, it enables you to communicate your idea to make people understand you clearly. We are all contributing to make Nigeria a better place.

“If we all express our passion on social media, we can help to proffer solution to problems of the society. This is not limited to young people in Nigeria alone, but the world at large,” Rabiyat said.

While Miss Atuzie Tuzzi, the Lead Manager of TRT-Events, emerged the first Runner-up at the event, Miss Nendirmwa Malafa, Programme Officer of YALI-Network Lagos Hub was the 2nd Runner-up.
