A reporter with Daily Trust Newspaper, Salim Umar Ibrahim, has been named Humanitarian Journalist of the Year by the Security and Emergency Management Award (SAEMA).

Ibrahim clinched the excellence award for his persistence in humanitarian and security reportage.

The 2022 4th SAEMA Award held on Wednesday, at NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja. It was organized by Emergency Digest, a publication of Image Merchants Promotion Limited in conjunction with the Center for Crisis Communication (CCC) and Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center (CISLAC).

Over 145 entries were received for the 2022 SAEMA Awards.

Ibrahim described the award as a motivation that will drive him forward to do more.

“Awards like this will continue to come when we are committed to our job, and in the best interest of humanity. When one is committed, dedicated and with the support of colleagues, and a media platform like Daily Trust, renowned for its honesty, credibility and fact-based reports, more awards will come. This is indeed a motivation to do more”

In his opening remarks, the Managing Director Image Merchants Promotion Limited, Alhaji Yushau A Shuaib, said all the finalists were thoroughly deserving not only the nominations but also the awards.

“It was therefore a lot of work Via a transparent process before our team of unbiased experts and professionals could select the eventual winners who will go home with the awards plaques,” he said.
