Daily Trust news editor loses father

Alhaji Ghazali Olaniyi, the father of Daily Trust’s News Editor, Muideen Olaniyi, is dead. 

He died after a brief illness at 97. 

He was buried yesterday in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, according to Islamic rites.

Alhaji Ghazali was survived by 11 children and many grandchildren.

Speaking after the burial in Ibadan, one of the children of the deceased, Muideen Olaniyi, described his late father as a highly disciplined personality who cared about the spirituality and education of his wards. 

He said, “Alhaji Ghazali did not have the opportunity to acquire formal education but made up his mind to ensure that his children go to school. The deceased believe in honesty, truth, and hard work. 

“The people of the area where he lived till death will miss his useful contributions to the growth of the community. 

“He died in the holy month of Ramadan when Allah forgives His servants. May Allah overlook his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatu Firdaus. Aameen.”
