Daily Trust Health Editor, Ojoma Akor has won the print category of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) media award.

The AHBN 2020 maiden award for media advocacy for family planning (FP2020) commitment in Nigeria had sought for stories, features, segments, series or shows that illustrate current realities, advocacy and raising the visibility pertaining to Nigeria’s government in fulfilling its FP2020 financial and non-financial commitments in line with the London FP Summits of 2012 and 2017.

The AHBN maiden media award recognized six outstanding works of journalists across multiple categories of television, radio, print, and online media platforms.

Other awardees of the AHBN media awards include Joseph Kadiri of ITV for television category; Frank Ajufo of Vision FM for radio category; Nike Adebowale of Premium Times and Hassan Zaggi of Express Day for the online category.

Akor recently won the Nigerian print category of the Merck Foundation ‘Stay at Home’ Media Recognition Awards organised in collaboration with African first ladies.

The award was presented to the various winners by media and health industry experts during the annual conference of the Association of Nigeria Health Journalists (ANHEJ) in Nasarawa State.

The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) is a network of organizations and individuals using budget advocacy to improve health service delivery in Africa.
