The management of the Daily Trust newspaper on Sunday condoled the family of veteran journalist, Mahmoon Baba-Ahmed, who died on Thursday in Kaduna.
Representative of the management, Associate Director/Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Malam Mahmud Jega, described the death of Mahmoon as a great loss to the profession of journalism in Nigeria.
Going memory lane, Jega said the contribution of Mahmoon in bringing the Maitatsine crisis to an end cannot be overemphasized.
He added that the diligence demonstrated by Mahmoon in covering the crises as Kano correspondent of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) revealed that with patriotism, media practitioners can play a big role in solving the crises facing Nigeria today.
He added; “I was even surprised to learn that he was 74 years, because the way he contributed to different media outfits, one would thought that he was much younger.
“I am here on behalf of the management of Daily Trust to condole the family. We pray to Allah to grant Mahmoon Jannatul Firdausi and give the family the fortitude to bear the great loss.”
