Dadiyata: Court adjourns over late summon

A Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the case of an activist, Abubakar Idris who went missing in August, 2019 to March 5, 2020.

The family is seeking for the enforcement of the fundamental rights of Abubakar Idris, also known as Dadiyata.

Daily Trust Saturday recalls that Dadiyata was abducted on August 2, 2019 from his home in Barnawa, Kaduna and has not been heard of months after.

The family then sued the Directorate of State Security, (DSS), Kaduna State Commissioner of Police and the Kaduna State Government over his disappearance.

At the resumed hearing yesterday in Kaduna, the presiding judge, Justice Hannatu Gwadah adjourned the case to 5th March, 2020 for hearing.

Earlier, Counsel to the DSS, L. A. Bulus said he received the court summon on the motion two-days before the trial adding he was not prepared for the trail.

Bulus informed the court that the document served to him was incomplete and the new document came late.

Also, Counsel to Abubakar, Mohammad Ashir said though the first notice was served with a page omitted, the new document was brought to the court on February 10, 2020 which should have reached the defendant on time.
