“Already, we are suffering from major security issues because no one took cybersecurity seriously during the remote work-from-home initiation.
“Now, disguised spam emails can be used to break into your network. Fake updates with fake subject lines can be quite the problem,” said Mervyn.
Mervyn, who also help cients to build their cryptocurrency portfolios explains other trends thus:
1. Eenhancing Digital Verifications
Authentication methods will become stronger to check for the right users. Now, simple one-step or two-step verifications will become even more stronger and complex to ensure that the only person accessing data is the one who owns it.
2. Expanded Networks
“With people working remotely, the network under which all employees work and upload their data will likely become expanded and more easily breached in case of an attack. Employees will have to connect to main data centers remotely, which will still increase the chances of an attack,” said Mervyn.
3. Content Securing is Key
Increasing the security of data is going to take top precedence for companies and businesses in 2021. Corporations will utilize various means to secure their data which will be spread across multiple devices and used by the different employees who are all working remotely.
4. Threat of Ransomware
Ransomware has been seen as one of the most troubling trends since the pandemic began. “Trouble is, it can affect anyone, from companies to hospitals; it has so far caused over a billion dollars in financial damage worldwide in the year 2020 alone. It is likely to cause even more problems in 2021,” added Goh En Wei Mervyn
