The Nigerian Customs Service has vowed to intensify its anti-smuggling operations around the borders of the country.
The Zonal Coordinator, Zone B Kaduna of the Customs Service, ACG Queen Ogbudu disclosed this while decorating the newly promoted officers in the zonal headquarters in Kaduna at the weekend.
He also urged the officers across the zones to protect the borders in their areas of operation.
ACG Queen said tackling smuggling activities across the borders will assist in boosting the country’s revenue in the zones.
She hinted that their promotion was based on merit, urging them to use the gesture to uplift the agenda of the present Comptroller General of Customs, which includes protecting the borders and revenue generation.
“It is expected that our revenue is supposed to go higher and it is expected that you put every effort to make it achievable,” she said.
According to her, their promotion was a result of dedication, hard work, diligence, and integrity, and it is expected that they contribute towards achieving the service goals.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Comptroller Mercy Eduok vowed to pursue the code and conduct governing the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and thanked the Comptroller General of Customs for finding them worthy to be promoted.
She also pledged their dedication to the service, commitment, and focus to ensure the NCS management team succeeds.
